The Committee is proud to announce that there will be
a ‘Million Dollar Billfish Tag Challenge’ as part of long awaited
debut of the World Championship Billfish Release Tournament. Never
before has any fishing tournament in Mexico offered a Million Dollar
prize for the recapture of a tagged Billfish.The billfish will be
tagged prior to the start of the tournament with two special tags,
photographs, tag numbers, all which will be documented and supplied to
all participants at the Captain's meeting Sunday 14th May, 2006 at the
Playa
Grande Hotel.

All teams and anglers entered in the WCBRT will be
eligible to participate in
The
Million Dollar Billfish Tag Challenge. The tagged billfish must be
caught during tournament days and hours: Monday 15th May, Tuesday 16th
May and Wednesday 17th May 2006, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and
5:00 p.m.. In order to claim the $1Million Dollar prize, the captured
and tagged marlin must be photographed before the tags are removed -

provide the team with a special confirmation / acknowledgement code
and procedure before the team can remove the tags. Upon confirmation
with tournament control, you will be advised further instructions on
how to recover the tags and return them to claim the $1Million Dollar
prize.
About the WCBRT
Requires mandatory use of circle hooks on live and
dead baits, and a single J- hook or Circle hook on a lure. The WCBRT
offers a new class of billfishing tournaments in support of
Conservation. An all release format backed and supported by
The Billfish
Foundation Organization. (http://www.billfish.org)
and the FCP. The inaugural event has already attracted anglers from
worldwide ports of distinction. The 2006 WCBRT is a qualifying event
for the Rolex / IGFA Off-Shore Championship and will include a Junior
World Championship Division. The mission of the WCBRT is to promote
competition, sportsmanship and the advancement of billfish
conservation in a manner that will insure healthy billfish populations
and exciting fishing experiences today and for future generations.
The
team entry fee of $4,000 is for up to 6 anglers (per team) covers
three days of competitive fishing, attendance to a gala welcome
reception / an awards dinner banquet, as well as, several optional
sponsored events, including a Casino Night fundraiser and a golf
outing.

Early team registration by April 1st will receive
custom monogram team shirts and become eligible for an early-bird
drawing to win free entry for the WCBRT 2007 event. (Over a $4,000

Minerva’s Baja
Tackle, located in downtown Cabo San Lucas.
Information and directions to all events will be
provided to all anglers, captains and sponsors.
NOTE: Seating for the Awards Dinner on Thursday, May
18th is assigned / reserved seating. Teams will be seated at assigned
team tables. Please advise tournament officials if your team will have
any invited dinner guests ($50.00 per plate for non-team member
guests). Dinner reservations for guests are required.

Team Entry Fee Prize Money:
A
minimum of 80% of the paid, registered teams fees will be used to make
up the team entry fee prize money pool. At the end of each day, the
team that releases the most billfish and accumulates the most release
points will win 20% of the team entry fee prize money pool. At the end
of the three days of competition, the team that has released the
largest total combined number of billfish over the entire 3 (three)
days and accumulates the most release points, will win 40% of the Team
Entry Fee Prize Money Pool –AND- be declared the WCBRT Champions

Optional Jackpots:
A minimum of 90% (ninety percent) of the optional
daily jackpot monies will be paid back to the anglers in prize money.
A minimum of 5% (five percent) of the total Optional Jackpot monies
collected will be donated to the designated non-profit charities.
All prize money awards will be given to the team captain to be
disbursed among the team and crew as they see fit. All appropriate
local, state, and federal taxes will be deducted from the prize
winnings as required by Mexican law. All prize money taxes are the
responsibility of the winning teams.
